Wheel Characteristics
Cast iron wheels combine strength and shock resistance with long life and economy. They have a very low tractive resistance and are a first choice where ease of movement is required.
Being metallic, they will withstand extremes of temperature that would destroy plastic or tyred wheels.
Revvo only supply heavy close grained castings of grey iron material sometimes described as ’semi-steel”. Our standard material specification is to BS EN 1561
Cast Iron wheels, however, can cause floor wear and noise. Although painted, like all ferrous metals, they will eventually rust.
Cast iron is a good and economical choice as a basic wheel for use primarily where rough service conditions prevail.
